Mission Impossible, Ghost Protocol is the forth film in the franchise (though first not to attest to its place in the title) and sees Tom Cruise reprising the leading role of the globe-trotting super agent Ethan Hunt. Throughout the series Hunt has evolved from team member to lone wolf and now in Ghost Protocol he has to become a true leader of a team that, for the 1st time, he did not select.
Tom Cruise, returning as IMF agent Ethan Hunt, once again puts all he has got into his role. This franchise is clearly Cruise’s baby, and the famously obsessed star characteristically will not keep away from the more perilous stunt work. The level of dedication shown by Cruise is staggering, whether he will be clinging to the side of the worlds highest skyscraper (130 floors up), or throwing him self down 1 or 2 levels of a parking garage. Say what you may about his oddities, but the person takes a pounding at each turn of this movie only to stand up and face down the following challenge, the very definition of a fearless performance.
The previously mentioned skyscraper climb is one of the most enthralling sequences I have ever seen in a film, but it is only one of several amazing scenes made by the director Brad Bird and his crew. Even in the quieter moments, plausibly unimportant tiny gags (Hunt shedding a disguise for example) add such a lot to the film, like the delicate icing on a big, many-layered cake.
The movie blasts off into overdrive from the minute the gates open and rarely lets up, it’s one hell of a ride and there’s enough action and gadgets there to relish any fan of the spy film genre. The plot is quite easy; the bad guy obtains the key to the ultimate weapon and plans to break the world with it. Hunt and his team, working without the support of the IMF, must stop him at any price. It has enough twists and turns to keep you engaged yet it never gets so complex that you risk getting lost while you’re dunked in the mind- blowing stunt sequences.
Mission Impossible Ghost Protocol streaming delivers exactly the kind of entertainment action fans want and as a outcome it is a brilliant popcorn flick. If you don’t like this ride then entertaining you is a mission: impossible.
